Erin is a playwright, puppeteer, performer and producer based in Toronto.
Erin is Co-Artistic Director of Caterwaul Theatre (alongside Sarah Fairlie), which produces innovative and immersive storytelling in puppetry, analog projection and stop-motion film, and has created music video, live projections and puppet installations for various bands and events throughout Toronto (including Long Winter, Camp Wavelength, SummerWorks Theatre Festival, Hamilton Children’s Choir, Harbourfront Centre and Girls Art League).
Erin wrote, designed and performed in Caterwaul’s inaugural production of Unintentionally Depressing Children’s Tales, which premiered at the 2014 SummerWorks Theatre Festival to much acclaim, and winning the NTS Design Award. She returned to SummerWorks in 2015 with the Music Series collaboration Heat Shuts Off Overnight with the band Germaphobes, and again in 2016 as part of the collaborative and performative team for Georgina Beaty’s Extremophiles (Critic’s Pick, NOW Magazine).
Erin has toured her Dora-nominated one-woman show Those Who Can’t Do... to Victoria B.C. and New York City since the show’s premiere at Theatre Passe Muraille. She has also written, produced and performed other original work with Mixed Company Theatre, at Theatre Passe Muraille’s BUZZ Festival, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre’s HYSTERIA Festival, the Toronto FRINGE! Festival, and Tarragon’s Spring Arts Fair.
As a playwright, Erin is an alumna of the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture’s Artist Residency in Dawson City, Stratford Playwright’s Retreat, Factory Theatre’s Natural Resources, Theatre Passe Muraille’s Upstarts, TheatreKairos’ Writer’s Circle and Nightwood Theatre’s Write from the Hip program.
As a performer, Erin has worked with the Steady State Theatre Project (Double Double: Outstanding Production/Ensemble/NOW Magazine Critic’s Pick Toronto Fringe Festival 2010, I Will Not Hatch: Outstanding Ensemble Toronto Fringe Festival 2009, Edmonton Fringe 2012), V-Day Toronto (The Vagina Monologues), Atomic Vaudeville (Toronto Cabaret) and Clay and Paper Theatre (The Space Between). She has also been featured in music videos for Toronto-based bands Digits and Bad Passion.
Erin’s puppet work have been seen as part of After Hours@TPM (Gregori’s Phantastik Big Time Show, Dutch Uncle Puppetry) Canzine 2010, Theatre Passe Muraille’s BUZZ Festival, the SummerWorks Festival Fiasco Playhouse performance gallery, Factory Theatre’s LabCab Festival, Puppetmongers Fresh Ideas In Puppetry Festival, and on Sesame Street.
Erin is the General Manager of League of Lady Wrestlers Toronto, and performs as Kitty Stardust, her glam-rock cat-lady alter-ego. www.leagueofladywrestlers.com
